I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) with 37 years of counseling experience working with adults, teens, children and families. During my earlier career, I managed community-based and residential domestic violence and prison-alternative programs for mothers and their children at several non-profit agencies. I have also worked as a juvenile court counselor and court counselor supervisor for Wake County Juvenile Court and as a transition counselor with at-risk students and their families for Wake County Public Schools.

I have been widowed and divorced, therefore I have a personal connection to the challenges of rebuilding when a marriage or a long-term relationship ends. I have also experienced the “empty nest” transition, following my son’s graduation from college and move to the West coast to work for a global technology corporation eleven years ago.

I have worked to transform my life challenges and transitions into
opportunities for personal growth and I strive to support and empower my
clients in their personal journeys. My personal experiences have had a major impact on my effectiveness in helping others who are facing difficult life circumstances and challenging life transitions. I have facilitated psycho-educational groups for over 35 years, on issues related to family violence, positive parenting skills, substance abuse education, divorce/relationship recovery, healing trauma of the “inner child” and internal family systems therapy (IFS).

I offer individual and family therapy sessions and am an in network provider for most BCBS plans (except Blue Home and Blue Local), the NC State Employees/Retirees Health Plan (SHP) and Aetna. I am an out-of-network provider for all other insurance plans. I offer a sliding fee scale for a limited number of clients who have a high deductible or no health insurance and for clients with demonstrated financial need. My goal is to create a safe and trusting relationship with every client and my approach is client-centered, relational and solution-focused.

I have an office in Cary and I schedule client telehealth appointments 3 - 4 afternoons per week. Currently most therapy sessions are telehealth and I also see clients one day per week at the office..

I live in the Raleigh/Cary area with my two kitties and I enjoy reading, Zumba classes, hiking, swimming, movies, and spending time with family and friends.
